Contrary to popular perception, Regidi Amadalavalasa police station makes people feel at ease with a model reception and a well maintained garden around the premises. The police personnel too welcome public with respect and dignity. Besides cosy seating arrangement, a feeding facility has been set up for infants separately.
Credit goes to circle inspector N.H. Vijayanand and sub inspector M. Chandramouli who worked previously here and took the initiative to convert the police station into a model one. Earlier, the police station had poor ambience with furniture. Mr. Vijayanand, currently working at Amudalavalasa, changed the atmosphere with the support of staff and local people. He brought plants from Bangalore and converted the surroundings of the police station into a garden. Water problem in the hilly region did not have any impact on the efforts of the staff of the police station in maintaining the garden.
Pat from SPSrikakulam Superintendent of Police Navin Gulati has appreciated the initiative after formally inaugurating the well designed reception in November, 2013. Sub inspector of Regidi Amadalavalasa police station N. Kameswara Rao told The Hindu that due to the good ambience of the station women were also approaching the police confidently. “Mr. Vijayanand and his team brought laurels to the police station. We are trying our best to maintain the reception and surroundings properly,” he added.
Vangara Ambedkar Yuvajana Sangham president Majji Ganapati expressed happiness over the good response at the police station. “We don’t find such a model station anywhere in the district. All the people in the area are happy with the polite response to the complaints. We request senior police officials to maintain similar standards in other areas too to strengthen the relation between public and police personnel,” he added.
