Telangana Telugu Desam Party has accused the TRS Government of adopting callous approach in ensuring that the right of TDP president and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to tour anywhere was not trampled upon and indirectly encouraging anti-social forces to resort to violence.
In a letter to Telangana Chief Secretary, Rajeev Sharma, Telangana TDP president L. Ramana referred to the Hanamkonda meeting of Mr. Naidu on Thursday and said that prior permission was taken from police and district authorities. He alleged that with the encouragement of the ruling party some culprits had set fire to the dais, damaged flexis and tried to create hurdles.
Although Telangana MLAs, MLCs and MPs were participating in the programme, he said that the district police and official machinery was adopting indifferent attitude. All this was happening at the instance of those at the helm, he alleged. Mr. Naidu had the right to tour in Telangana and it was the responsibility of Telangana Government to protect him, he observed.
Alleging that only token security was provided to Mr. Naidu, who has Z-plus category security, he said that the issue should be viewed as failure of law and order.
Mr. Ramana said that the matter would be brought to the notice of Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan. He also requested the Chief Secretary to direct the district collectors in Telangana to provide full bandobast to Mr. Naidu during his tour and ensure no untoward incidents take place.
