Student JAC opposes plant

July 17, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:57 am IST - SRIKAKULAM:

Andhra Pradesh Students’ Joint Action Committee on Saturday asked all the five MPs and 34 MLAs of North Andhra to strongly oppose atomic power plant at Kovvada alleging that it would destroy Visakhapatnam, Srikakulam and Vizianagaram districts in case of any accident.

JAC chairman Lagudu Govinda Rao, political JAC representative J.T. Rama Rao and others said that they would write to all the 175 MLAs in the State explaining the injustice meted out to North Andhra with the establishment of industries which cause pollution.

“We will stage a protest in New Delhi in the first week of August,” they said.
