Unrelenting in his fight to retain the land, which veteran Congress leader G. Venkataswamy claims as his own, actor Srikanth has demanded that the State Government undertake re-survey of the disputed 3.19 acres land in Donthapalli village in Shankarpalli mandal of Ranga Reddy district.

Mr. Srikanth at a press conference on Sunday showed the original land documents including the pattadar passbook to prove his claim. He was flanked by Badri Yadaiah and Badri Mallaiah, the original land owners, who had sold the land to Yadagiri Goud and not to Mr. Venkataswamy as claimed by him.

Denies charge

He denied the charge that he was cheated by some persons, who sold him his land. ?I am willing to forego the land, if he can prove that the land was registered in his name first. Let a re-survey be done by revenue officials in the presence of the media to prove the ownership,? he said.

The actor, along with his brother Anil Kumar, in whose name the land was registered, maintained that the revenue officials and local police had verified the documents and justified their claim. ?All I want is justice. My fight is to win back my land, on which Mr. Venkataswamy's followers pitched Congress and TRS flags,? he said. The actor did not rule out approaching Chief Minister K. Rosaiah and the Governor to plead his case.

Supporting the actor, Mr. Yadaiah said he had not sold an inch of land to Mr. Venkataswamy.

?I sold my land in survey number 23 to Yadagiri Goud, who in turn disposed it of to Mr. Srinivasa Rao, from whom the actor's brother purchased it,? he observed.

Venkataswamy faulted

He accused the veteran Congress leader of forcibly keeping his land documents for over six months without any reason.

?Only after we protested in front of his house, the Congress leader's son and former Minister G. Vinod gave them back,? he added.

Meanwhile, Mr. Venkataswamy refuted the allegations that he had encroached upon land belonging to actor Srikanth's brother. ?I asked them to stop construction work on my land,? he said and alleged that his rivals were trying to malign him.
