Chiranjeevi’s Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) will deliberate over the road ahead in its two-day plenary, the first after its formation two-years ago.

The plenary, to be held at the Port Stadium in the coastal city from tomorrow, would discuss the prevailing political scenario in Andhra Pradesh and the country and the party’s stand on various issues.

The party would reiterate its support for a united Andhra Pradesh on the contentious Telangana issue.

The party may, however, abide by the report of the Sri Krishna Committee appointed by the Centre on the issue.

Praja Rajyam is also expected to discuss its possible friendship with ruling Congress as Mr. Chiranjeevi has already indicated that his party may extend support to the Congress Government in the State if such a situation arose.

The PRP chief met the Congress President Sonia Gandhi and decided not to field his candidates during the recent Rajya Sabha elections on her request.

Bonhomie between the two parties has grown since then.

Chief Minister K Rosaiah has welcomed Mr. Chiranjeevi’s willingness to extend support to the government in case of need.

Mr. Chiranjeevi will be re-elected as party president which would be a mere formality.

Praja Rajyam would also pass resolutions on various issues of public concern like national status for Polavaram irrigation project and price rise.

The party would also discuss ways to strengthen the organisation in the State. Building up a committed cadre in Telangana region would be a challenge for the party as its support base in the region eroded substantially after it reversed its support for separate Telangana demand and stood for united Andhra Pradesh.

It is the first plenary the party is holding after Mr. Chiranjeevi launched the outfit on August 26 in 2008 at Tirupati.
