Senior BJP leader M. Venkaiah Naidu has suggested the Centre to stop dialogue with Pakistan until it calls a halt to the proxy war against India. Talks will be meaningless as Pakistan has been aiding and abetting terrorism continuously.
Addressing a press conference here on Friday, Mr. Naidu said the arrest of Pakistani-origin US citizen Faisal Shahzad recently was an indication of Pakistan being the epicentre of terrorism across the globe. The incident should be an eye-opener to the US as it had been supplying arms and aiding Pakistan on a large-scale.
The US had joined hands with Pakistan to fight terror in the latter's western border, when the country was abetting terrorism on its eastern border to destabilise India, he pointed out. On the death penalty to Ajmal Amir Kasab, the BJP leader said it was for the Centre to implement the sentence without delay. He suggested that the political leadership should not to come in the way of the judicial process of punishing terrorists as it did in case of Afzal Guru for the attack on Parliament.
Expressing fear that the ongoing Census operations would open floodgates for Bangladeshi infiltrators to become Indian citizens Mr. Naidu sought separation of enumeration of population and collection of data for National Population Register (NPR).
The clause of “nationality – as declared” in the NPR data collection form was dangerous to security and sovereignty of the country.
A Rajya Sabha Standing Committee on Home Affairs headed by Mr. Naidu had recommended withdrawal of the clause as the data would be utilised for issuance of citizenship identity cards.
Infiltrators
He stated that the number of infiltrators was more than one crore and expressed dismay over using them as vote bank by some parties.
