Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday declared that his government would review corruption cases of the past 10 years and take appropriate action on them.

Addressing a press conference, Mr. Naidu said a series of white papers on infrastructure, finances, irrigation, agriculture, power sector, injustice done due to bifurcation, corruption and lack of governance would be released. He said the white papers would be released after the conclusion of the first Assembly session, beginning June 19 and before the next budget session.

Replying to a question on corruption, he said there have been lot of problems as far corruption was concerned. He said while a US Federal Court has initiated action in the titanium case, “we did nothing here. We will review all cases and take appropriate action,” he added.

Goals set for secretaries

The Chief Minister also announced that 100-day short-term and long-term goals have been set for the secretaries to come out with clear-cut plans on various sectors, including employment, infrastructure, agriculture and industry.

Mr. Naidu said that as a result of lopsided development in the past 10 years, wrong priorities, corruption and finally bifurcation, the State was now facing a deep crisis. He, however, would like to convert the crisis into an opportunity. People’s suggestions would be sought to prepare a vision document and an action plan for development of Andhra Pradesh in various sectors.

The Chief Minister said transparency would be introduced and people’s ideas and best practices would be taken. The emphasis would be on inclusive growth, eradication of poverty, support to vulnerable sections, changing the delivery mechanism and restore the systems that were fully destroyed in the past 10 years.

Mr. Naidu said the State was not seeking any favour from the Centre but wanted a level-playing field through financial assistance and policy initiatives.
