February 16, 2017 12:48 am | Updated 12:48 am IST - VIJAYAWADA:

K. Sai Charan, 15, a Class X student, died under suspicious circumstances in his hostel room at a private school here. The school staff found the student hanging from the ceiling fan in the early hours of Wednesday.

The victim was a native of A.T. Agraharam in Guntur.

Following a complaint lodged by the school management, the Machavaram police registered a case under Section 174 Cr.PC (suspicious death) and took up investigation.

According to the police, the student returned to the hostel from home four days back and was preparing for the public examination.

As usual, Charan returned to his room after having dinner along with his friends on Tuesday night.

“The reason for the extreme step is not known immediately and no suicide note was left behind,” a police officer said.

The teachers informed the boy’s parents about the incident. Charan’s father, Ravi Shankar, is a priest.

Police handed over the body to his family members after the post-mortem.
