MLA’s car attacked

GUNTUR: Tense situation prevailed when the car of TDP MLA from Allagadda, Bhuma Akhila Priya, was attacked allegedly by supporters of the YSR Congress Party at Mandadam village in the Capital region here on Thursday.

Ms. Priya who was seated in a car was leaving the Interim Government Complex at Velagapudi and was headed to Vijayawada at about 4 p.m. when a group of YSRC supporters spotted her and tried to ghereo her. They banged on the windscreen, but the driver sped away. Some policemen chased the group of men away. The MLA was unhurt in the incident, which lasted for three minutes.

Inspector-General of Police, Guntur, N. Sanjay said the police had taken a serious view of the incident.

“We have examined the video of the assault, and based on the account of the personal security officer of the MLA, we will file cases against those identified in the incident,” Mr. Sanjay said.
