A journalist was attacked allegedly by supporters of Chirala MLA Amanchi Krishnamohan for carrying a report on alleged illegal activities of the TDP MLA in his monthly magazine.
Superintendent of Police C.M. Trivikram Varma said on Monday that a case of attempt to murder had been registered against nine persons, including Chirala MLA’s brother Amanchi Srinivasa Rao.
The journalist had posted his report, published in the monthly magazine Matti Chethuloo Basa, on social media, and had challenged the MLA for a debate to disprove the allegations levelled against him. Enraged over this, the MLA’s supporters waylaid the journalist and allegedly clubbed him with logs.
