Fire at power plant leaves nine injured

Nine workers suffered burns, seven of them seriously, in a fire accident at Sembcorp Gayatri Power Plant located near Krishnapatnam in the district on Tuesday.

They were shifted to the Apollo Speciality Hospitals in Nellore.

The incident took place when they were working on a boiler in the plant.

The fire was put out by the power plant’s fire fighting teams.

Company sources said that there were no fatalities. All medical help was being extended for the speedy recovery of the injured persons, the sources added.
