Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday said the government would spend ₹35,000 crore on urban housing in the next two years and that tenders had been called for 2.96 lakh houses of the 3.67 sanctioned units. Construction of 1.04 lakh houses had begun, he said at a review meeting.
He said about 11,000 tons of steel and 16,800 tons of cement had been kept ready for construction of the houses and instructed the officials to facilitate weekly visits of the beneficiaries to enable them to see the constructions and their quality for themselves at regular intervals.
Employment
The CM suggested that jobs should be provided to the people by developing industrial estates in the vicinity of their housing complexes wherever possible.
He instructed the officials to provide vitrified tiles in the houses being built under the NTR Nagar scheme and to rate the best builders for rewarding them appropriately. He would personally visit the houses under construction in 87 municipalities.
