A many as 20 persons of a marriage party sustained injuries after a van carrying them overturned when the driver was trying to overtake a vehicle on the NH16 at Akkivaram junction in Bhogapuram mandal on Thursday.
Among them, 15 persons, including two minors and the groom, escaped with minor injuries and the others suffered fractures, said SI D. Deenabandu. While the persons with minor injuries were treated at Sundarampeta, the others were admitted to Vizianagaram district headquarters hospital.
The marriage party was on its way from T. Nagarapalem in Bhimili mandal to Nadipalle in Poosapatirega mandal. The police have registered a case.
