Fifteen students of a private school suffered injuries when the bus in which they were travelling overturned at Nandiwada in Krishna District on Monday.

The injured children have been admitted to the Gudivada Government Hospital and their condition is stated to be out of danger. They are students of primary classes, local people said.

According to the police, the school bus belonging to Vidyalaya School, Gudivada, fell on its side at Puttagunta village while transporting them from nearby villages to the school at around 8 a.m.

About 25 students were travelling in the bus when the mishap occurred. The students suffered injuries and bruises to their limbs, said Nandiwada sub-inspector P. Rambabu, who visited the spot.

Police are verifying whether the school bus was having a fitness certificate and whether or not the driver was having a valid licence. “We will collect information from the education and transport departments. A case has been registered,” said the sub-inspector.
