Emboldened by AICC general secretary M. Veerappa Moily's indication that no action was contemplated against Kadapa MP Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy, a dozen Congress legislators and Social Welfare Minister Pilli Subhash Chandra Bose joined his ‘Odarpu yatra' in East Godavari district on Saturday.

With Mr. Moily pointing out that the yatra was purely personal, several MLAs and MLCs reached Rajahmundry by Saturday evening. They included: A. Amarnatha Reddy (Rajampet), K. Venkataramana Reddy (Dharmavaram) and K. Srinivasulu (Railway Koduru), A.K. Srinivas (Eluru), Rowthu Suryaprakash Rao (Rajahmundry City), Pamula Rajeswari Devi (Gannavaram), N. Sesha Reddy (Anaparthy), D. Chandrasekhara Reddy (Kakinada City) and Pulla Padmavati, K.V.V. Chaitanya Raju, Kandula Durgesh and B. Indira.

Mr. Bose, who was in the forefront of Mr. Jagan's entourage, declared: “I am a die-hard YSR loyalist and feel that the ongoing yatra is not against anybody. The tour will only fetch additional votes for the Congress party.”

Mr. Suryaprakash said the yatra was creating self-confidence among the people that YSR's son would fill the void left behind by him. Mr. Srinivasulu said he and others have decided to visit East Godavari and extend moral support to the Congress MP.

Rajahmundry Staff Reporter writes: A large number of people accorded rousing reception to Mr. Jagan in Rajahmundry. Soon after his arrival, the MP called on ailing former Minister Jakkampudu Rammohana Rao at his residence. He later visited the house of Reddy Suryaprakasha Rao who had committed suicide on learning about the death of YSR. He also consoled the family members of Ganji Sekhar in Addepalli colony and Aguru Narasimham at Annapoornammapeta.
