11-year-old ‘electrocuted’ in playground

An 11-year-old boy was allegedly electrocuted after coming in contact with a live wire while playing in the playground of his school at G. Madugula mandal in Visakhapatnam district on Sunday.

The boy, identified as Korra Sasi Kumar, a resident of Suttumettu village in Pedabayalu mandal, was a Class V student of the Tribal Welfare Residential School at G. Madugula.

Sources said Sasi Kumar was playing with his friends who were reportedly swinging around a long wire with a stone attached to it. Sasi Kumar caught hold of the wire and was swinging the wire when it accidentally came in contact an overhead electricity wire. He was allegedly killed on the spot.

Teachers rushed the student to G. Madugula PHC but the doctors declared him brought dead. A case has been registered at G. Madugula police station and a probe is on.
