The problems of farmers, agricultural workers and even those residing in the area earmarked for building the new capital will be addressed, Minister for Major Irrigation Devineni Umamaheswara Rao said.
Speaking to the media here on Tuesday, the Minister said that a world class capital was being planned in Thullur, Mangalagiri and Amaravati area. He said that farmers were willing to part with their land required for building of the new capital. An ultra modern capital would be constructed in a planned manner with utmost transparency.
A bridge would be built across Krishna River near Gollapudi and Suraipalem in alignment with the National Highway, the Minister said.
Development plankBhavani Island and Kondapalli Fort would be developed as tourist destinations of international standards. The development of Machilipatnam port would also be expedited, he said, adding that the area would be developed with an investment of Rs 20,000 crore from the Centre
The Minister further said that he, along with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, had talks with the Chief Minister and Irrigation Minister of Karnataka State to expedite the modernisation of Tungabhadra Canal systems. This would resolve the drinking and irrigation water woes of the four Rayalaseema districts. He said the problems of Anantapur, Kadapa, Kurnool and Chittoor farmers would be soon resolved with the modernisation of the Tungabhadra Canal systems.
Referring to the cotton procurement, the Minister said that cotton was being purchased at the support price of Rs. 4,050 per quintal at special purchase centres set up by the Cotton Corporation of Indian (CCI). Talks would be initiated with the respective companies to ensure clearance of dues of Subabul farmers.
