Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday directed officials to declare their assets within 15 days, a day after issuing a similar order to his Ministers.
At his first interaction with senior officials in Lok Bhawan, the Chief Minister also instructed them to ensure implementation of the BJP’s ‘Sankalp Patra’ (manifesto).
“It was an introductory meeting with U.P. government officials. The officials were told that the Sankalp Patra has to be implemented,” Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya, who was also present, told reporters after the meeting.
The Chief Minister asked officials to declare both their immovable and movable assets, Mr. Maurya said.
The meeting was attended by around 65 senior officials.
Islamic seminary Darul Uloom Deoband has expressed the hope that as the Chief Minister, Mr. Adityanath will take everyone along. Maulana Qasim Nomani of the seminary said the Darul Uloom was a non-political institution and had no affiliation to any political party. “Becoming the Chief Minister has increased Mahant [priest] Adityanath’s job. He needs to fulfil constitutional responsibilities as the CM and should take everyone along,” said Maulana Nomani.
Another important seminary in Deoband, Darul Uloom Zakariya, also echoed these views.
“The electorate of U.P. have given an unprecedented mandate to the BJP... Yogi Adityanath has taken the oath of taking every one along. He should not do anything which hurts anyone,” Mufti Arshad Farooqui told the media.
