A threat not opportunity, says SJM

The RSS-associated Swadeshi Jagran Manch has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, cautioning him that the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) Ministerial Summit he is attending in Singapore “presents a major threat and not a major opportunity for India”.

“India is being asked to improve its offer to the RCEP partners. India has major challenges from China in industrial goods. China already accounts for about half of India’s total trade deficit. Even with 74% of goods offered at zero duty (India’s current offer), this deficit will increase manifold and also threaten India’s manufacturing growth potential,” SJM co-convener Ashwani Mahajan said in a letter.
