Will be in touch over radio: Modi

“Governance not task of govt. alone”

October 04, 2014 12:11 am | Updated November 28, 2021 07:40 am IST - NEW DELHI:

Carrying forward his approach of establishing direct contact with the masses, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday used his first radio broadcast to the nation to deliver a pep talk aimed at making fellow Indians recognise their inherent abilities and draw out workable suggestions that would contribute to nation-building.

Also, he sought to drive home the point that governance was not the task of the government alone, and everyone should be engaged in the endeavour.

Belying expectations of several private radio and television channels, which had set aside an hour for his radio broadcast, Mr. Modi wrapped up his address on All India Radio (AIR) within 15 minutes, but with the promise of making it a monthly affair; if not fortnightly.

Mr. Modi also informed his listeners that from now on, his address would be at 11 a.m. on Sundays, though the periodicity of these addresses had not been finalised.

While the periodicity of such broadcasts — named Man ki Baat (my thoughts) — has not been decided yet, Mr. Modi informed his listeners that it would from now on be on Sundays at the same hour, 11 a.m.
