A jawan of the paramilitary Tripura State Rifles (TSR) was on Monday injured in a gunfight with suspected insurgents of the National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) at Kakuiroajapara, a remote tribal hamlet in Dhalai district.

Deputy Inspector-General Nepal Das said the jawan, Ashutosh Ghosh, was injured when a TSR contingent conducting a search operation at Kakuiroajapara at about 10 a.m. was fired upon by the ultras. An encounter ensued which lasted for about 15 minutes and the ultras fled into the forest, Mr. Das said.
