Separatist groups in Kashmir on Saturday maintained a studied silence over the Centre’s eight-point formula to deal with the current unrest in the Valley.

JKLF Chairman Mohammad Yasin Malik said he would summon a meeting of the Working Committee and General Council of his outfit to discuss the new development.

“We will comment only after the measures announced (by the Union government) are discussed threadbare by the Working Committee and the General Council,” Mr. Malik told PTI .

The chairman of the hard-line faction of the Hurriyat Conference Syed Ali Shah Geelani could not be reached for his comments.

An amalgam spokesman, however, said the measures would be discussed in the Majlis-e-Shoura (Advisory Council).

“We will react only after the Shoura meeting. May be Geelani will address a press conference in this regard,” spokesman Ayaz Akbar said.

Sources in the moderate Hurriyat Conference, headed by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, said consultations were on among amalgam leaders for framing a response to Union Home Minister’s latest move.
