Retrieve lands given to corporates: Brinda tells Karnataka Govt

November 22, 2010 02:49 pm | Updated 02:49 pm IST - New Delhi

Karnataka government should take back all public land given to corporates by Chief Minister Yeddyurappa in return for alleged favours from them, CPI (M) Polit Bureau member Brinda Karat said here today.

Asking Bharatiya Janata Party to shed its “double standards”, she termed as “an absolutely shameless record” allegations of Mr. Yeddyurappa’s family benefiting from state government land.

“The main sting is against the people and that sting is such a poisonous sting that public land is being given to corporates for a pittance in return for favours to the Chief Minister and his family and others in power. This is an absolutely shameless record...what can be more shocking than that. And, therefore, the BJP has to get over its double standards,” she told reporters outside Parliament.

Calling for Mr. Yeddyurappa’s removal as Chief Minister, she said, “The CM should not only be removed, but all the land that has been illegally given to corporates by this or that government must be returned.”
