Pawar undergoes surgery

Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar underwent a minor operation for oral infection at the Breach Candy Hospital here on Wednesday.

Dr. Sultan Pradhan, who operated on him, told The Hindu over telephone that Mr. Pawar was operated upon for granuloma and the procedure lasted an hour.

“No cancer”

“There is no cancer. He is in a conscious state and his condition is good. He will be discharged in a couple of days,” Dr. Pradhan said.

Mr. Pawar was admitted to the hospital on Tuesday. He underwent a surgery in 2004 for a swelling in the jaw. Dr. Pradhan, director of Prince Aly Khan hospital, had operated on Mr. Pawar.
