NCP to abstain for stable govt.: Pawar

October 28, 2014 01:39 am | Updated November 16, 2021 07:14 pm IST - MUMBAI:

The Nationalist Congress Party, which had already declared unconditional outside support to a BJP government in Maharashtra, declared on Monday that it would abstain in the event of a trust vote in the Assembly. This will be a life-line for a BJP-led minority government.

“We have already said we will not be part of BJP government, but support it from outside. Our only aim is to have a stable government,” party chief Sharad Pawar told The Hindu .

“If the Congress and the NCP come together, the numbers will not be enough. And the option of joining hands with the Shiv Sena is also not possible. The numbers are such that abstaining is the only option for a stable government,” he added.
