The Maharashtra Congress has strongly reacted to the “treatment” meted out to outgoing Maharashtra Governor K. Sankaranarayanan and said the NDA government’s “Mizoram pattern” was dangerous for democracy.
“It is unfortunate that the Narendra Modi government is demeaning the constitutional posts by indulging in political vendetta. The NDA government is using a ‘Mizoram pattern’ to harass Governors by issuing transfer and suspension orders at midnight,” said Maharashtra Congress Committee president Manikrao Thackeray in a statement.
“This trend is dangerous for democracy. Mr. Sankaranarayanan was forced to resign due to this harassment,” the PCC president said. Mr. Thackeray said the BJP was misusing official dais for “politically motivated insult of Chief Ministers.”
