November 27, 2015 02:06 am | Updated November 16, 2021 04:19 pm IST - NEW DELHI:

Union Minister Thawar Chand Gehlot on Thursday pushed for the construction of a Ram temple in Ayodhya, repeal of Article 370, which gives special status to Jammu and Kashmir, and implementation of a Uniform Civil Code in the country.

Ayodhya mein Ram Mandir tha, hai aur banega (there was a Ram Temple in Ayodhya, it is there and will be rebuilt),” he said in the Lok Sabha.

He termed Article 370 “a measure that was meant to be a temporary provision in the Constitution”.

Uniform civil code

Favouring a uniform civil code, he asked, “Why we should have different laws for different communities? Every country follows a uniform law.”
