Militants injure three policemen in armed attack

Three policemen were today injured when heavily-armed militants launched two attacks on police personnel and fired rifle grenades at a security camp in Sopore town of North Kashmir today.

All the three attacks took place within a span of two hours this morning.

A police spokesman said two policemen were injured as heavily—armed ultras attacked a police party in the main chowk of the town, 55 kms from here, around 10.40 AM.

Police and security forces have cordoned off the area and launched a hunt to nab the militants.

Another policeman was injured when militants opened fire on personnel of special operations group (SOG) of local police engaged in a search and cordon operation in Bhagat area around 9.50 AM. The exchange of fire between the two sides was going on when reports last came in, the spokesman said.

In another incident, militants fired three rifle grenades on the camp of 22 Rashtriya Rifles here, the spokesman said, adding no one was injured in the attack.
