Maritime varsity V-C's office, residence raided

The Central Bureau of Investigation on Wednesday night registered a disproportionate wealth case against the Vice-Chancellor of Indian Maritime University P. Vijayan and his wife.

Simultaneous raids that commenced early on Thursday on the office and residence of the Vice-Chancellor in Chennai continued till late in the night, sources in the agency said. “The case was registered based on specific information that Dr. Vijayan had acquired wealth disproportionate to his known sources of income. Investigators have found documents of some movable and immovable properties that will be subjected to scrutiny,” a CBI official said.

Dr. Vijayan is the first Vice-Chancellor of Indian Maritime University, which is headquartered in Chennai.
