The Delhi Police have initiated proceedings to send the final medical and forensic reports of Sunanda Pushkar to a London laboratory for a second opinion, said sources.
A senior police officer said that investigators probing Sunanda’s death had contacted the Central Bureau of Investigation, which is the nodal agency that coordinates with the Interpol.
Now, the Interpol will act as a link between the Delhi Police and the London laboratory.
“We felt an analysis of the report was needed and would soon dispatch the documents related to the medical report to London,” said the officer.
The three-page report was prepared by a panel of three doctors from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, which was submitted on December 29.
Based on the findings of that report, a murder case was registered in Sunanda’s death.
According to the report, the cause of death was poisoning. The report also said that “a patch mark was found on the bed sheet suggestive of long-time urination. This could either be due to deep sleep or unconsciousness for long hours.”
It also mentioned a bite mark on her hand and a visible blunt injury caused by a sharp object.
The team of doctors also revisited the crime scene in suite number 345 of the hotel in October 2014 where they purportedly found pieces of broken glass on the carpet which, they concluded, were suggestive of a scuffle.
