Kashmir IAS officer upset at analogies

Addressing his post to the electronic media, Faisal Shah says: “ …if this nonsense around me continues, I might prefer to resign sooner than later.” File photo.

Shah Faisal, who topped the IAS examination in 2009, on Friday took to the social media to express his displeasure over the media analogies “which make him vulnerable,” and threatened to quit.

“By juxtaposing my photos with those of a slain militant commander [Burhan Wani], a section of national media has once again fallen back upon its conventional savagery that cashes in on falsehoods, divides people and creates more hatred,” wrote Mr. Faisal, who is Director, Education, Kashmir.

Mr. Faisal fears that “the propaganda being dished out from red and blue newsrooms are breeding more alienation and anger in Kashmir than what the Indian state can manage.”

“Vulnerability apart, the very fact of becoming a part of a ridiculous debate is something which has disturbed me very much. Have I joined IAS to do a job or to be a part of your sadistic propaganda machine?” Mr. Faisal asks.

Addressing his post to the electronic media, he says: “ …if this nonsense around me continues, I might prefer to resign sooner than later.”

His post comes a day after IAS officer Yasin Chaudhary accused Delhi-based news channels of “false reporting from the Valley.”

“…We have to steer safe from spoilers who want to set the Valley on fire just for the sake of TRP …. Let us pray for those who lost their lives and their eyesight and stand by one another in this moment of truth,” he added.
