After the controversial documentary ‘India's Daughter’ appeared online for public viewing despite a ban, the government has started exploring it's options to block the film's screening.
In fact, the Home Ministry has sought the opinion of the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology over how the film could be blocked on video sharing website YouTube.
According to the Ministry sources, the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (ICERT) has swung into action to prohibit the film from appearing online in India.
Dr. Gulshan Rai, head of the ICERT, was in a meeting with officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs, at the time of writing this report, to discuss the next possible course of action regarding the documentary.
Following national outrage and protests by opposition MPs in the Parliament, the government had banned the documentary — featuring interviews of one of the perpetrators of the December 16th 2012 gangrape —from airing on Indian Television.
Leslee Udwin, the film's director, left India on Wednesday evening.
