I haven't signed letter on ex-CJI: Krishna Iyer

April 06, 2011 12:03 am | Updated 12:03 am IST

The former Supreme Court Judge, V.R. Krishna Iyer, writes:

Considerable publicity has been given to a news item on Tuesday stating that Sri Prashant Bhushan and I have written to the President and the Prime Minister, demanding the removal of Sri K.G. Balakrishnan, formerly Chief Justice of India. While broadly I agree with the sentiment behind the news item, I have not signed such a letter with Prashant Bhushan (not reported in The Hindu ). True, it is my view that Sri Balakrishnan should have resigned and that the Central government should have appointed a Commission to enquire into the acts of corruption imputed to Sri Balakrishnan and there is a high-level opinion that he should be asked to resign. To say that I have signed such a request to the President and the Prime Minister along with Sri Prashant Bhushan is not accurate.
