The Central Bureau of Investigation probing the alleged bribery case against Central Board of Film Certification’s (CBFC) former CEO Rakesh Kumar claims that Mr. Kumar maintained a tabular sheet of the agents whose movies or short films he cleared out of turn.
According to the agency, from April onwards Mr. Kumar asked his clerk to maintain a tabular sheet showing names of agents and the Censor Certificates (CC) issued on urgent basis — the number of days taken to issue CC from the date of application — against their names.
“This modus operandi was adopted by Mr. Kumar to obtain pecuniary gain from the agents for issue of CCs on priority basis,” the CBI remand copy read. Mr. Kumar was produced before a special CBI court on Friday and remanded to CBI’s custody until August 31.
