Five killed by Maoists in Jharkhand

Five persons were killed when Maoists blew up a culvert in Giridih district of Jharkhand on the second day of the five-state shutdown called by them.

The five travelling by a car died when the Maoists triggered the blast on the culvert last night, Giridih Superintendent of Police A. V. Homker told PTI over phone today.

The incident occurred between Purnanagar and Gandey under Pirtand police station.
