The National Investigating Agency on Friday told a Delhi court that the trial against the alleged mastermind of the 26/11 Mumbai attacks Abu Jundal should be conducted through video conferencing as he faces threat to his life.
The NIA said Abu Jundal alias Sayed Zabiuddin Ansari, currently lodged in Arthur Road jail in Mumbai, cannot be produced at court as it believes that he could be harmed or kidnapped during his transit from jail to court.
However, Jundal’s advocate M.S. Khan told District Judge Amar Nath that such an arrangement would adversely affect his defence. Mr. Khan said he would write a letter to Jundal to seek his instruction on the issue.
The court posted the matter for further hearing on August 5.
