CEC to review poll preparedness in Vidarbha

Chief Election Commissioner Navin Chawla will be arriving here on a day-long visit to review the poll preparations in Vidarbha region in view of the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections.

Mr. Chawla will be accompanied by Election Commissioners Dr. S. Y. Qureshi and V. S. Sampat, official sources said.

The EC team will reach here from Mumbai on Thursday and at the outset will hold discussions with representatives of various political parties of Vidarbha and Marathwada region, they said.

Later, the officials will review the poll preparedness of both the regions with Divisional Commissioners of Nagpur, Amravati and Aurangabad.

They are also scheduled to meet all the district Collectors and returning officers and Commissioners of Police, special Inspector Generals of Police and District Superintendents of Police, official sources said.
