The Bombay High Court has given interim protection to social activist Teesta Setalvad and her husband Javed Anand for two weeks till August 10.
Earlier on Friday, a CBI court rejected the anticipatory bail plea of Ms. Setalvad and Mr. Anand in a case related to the violation of the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA).
The CBI court rejected her plea despite Ms. Setalvad's contention that she was cooperating with the investigators.
Ms. Setalvad moved Bombay High Court challenging the rejection of her anticipatory bail plea by the CBI court.
Upon hearing the CBI court order, Ms. Setalvad said, "I am shocked and aggrieved by this verdict. This is a petty offence and we have got relief in much more serious cases. I am constrained to accept the verdict. But my supporters and I feel that this is an attempt to intimidate and possibly eliminate us by the powers."
