On the second day of the Congress' 83rd plenary on Sunday, party general secretary Digvijay Singh said the BJP was not only poisoning minds through “shishu mandirs” with its distorted version of history but it was also infiltrating the bureaucracy, police, judiciary and, even more dangerously the Army — the investigations into the Malegaon blasts had revealed the role of two Army officers.
Mr. Singh described the demolition of the Babri Masjid as the biggest blot on Indian democracy. Before Independence, the Congress had equally opposed Jinnah's Muslim League and the RSS and the Hindu Mahasabha: ironically, it was the BJP's L.K. Advani who had praised Jinnah.
Hinting at a BJP-Naxal link in the BJP-ruled States, he said it would be worthwhile finding out how the BJP was able to win all the seats in the most Naxal-affected polling booths, where Naxals had imposed a poll boycott.
