Nine policemen were killed on Wednesday in an attack in northern Iraq, said security officials.
The assault was carried out by gunmen on a security building in the city of Mosul, some 400 kilometres north of Baghdad, reported independent website Alsumaria News , citing a security official.
The attack was the latest in a surge of violence that has killed more than 200 people in Iraq since the month of Ramadan began on July 10, according to official figures.
