Suicide blast kills 4 in northwest Pakistan

At least four persons were killed and 56 others injured on Tuesday when a suicide bomber targeted a vehicle of a line officer in Pakistan’s restive north-western tribal region, officials said.

The bomber blew himself up when the vehicle came out from the office of the tribal police in Jamrud tehsil of Khyber Agency bordering Afghanistan, killing four persons including two line officers, they said.

At least 15 security personnel were among 56 injured.

State of emergency

As many as 25 injured were taken to Hayatabad Medical Complex in Peshawar, where a state of emergency had already been declared. Others were rushed to nearby hospitals.

Jamrud is located 25 km from Peshawar, the capital of Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

The security forces cordoned off the area and mounted the search operation in the area.
