Police raided the office of Bengali daily ‘Inqilab’ here on Thursday night and detained three journalists of the newspaper, known for its sensationalism.
The police have also sealed the daily’s printing press, seized some computers and printing equipment, journalists of the daily, which supports radical Islamists, claimed.
The move came hours after the law enforcers filed a case against the editor, publisher, chief reporter and a reporter under the Information, Communication and Technology Act, and under the Penal Code for publishing a “provocative and false news” item on Thursday, claiming that Indian troops had assisted the operations of joint forces in western Satkhira.
The newspaper had also reported that the Foreign Ministry with the permission of the Prime Minister’s Office had sent a letter to New Delhi asking for assistance from the Indian armed forces.
