Nation building cannot happen without minorities: Hassan Ali

This election showed the coming together of sections of the majority Sinhalese community, with the Tamil and Muslim minorities, says Hassan Ali, general secretary, Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC).

Pointing to the high voter turnout in the Muslim-majority Eastern Province – over 75 per cent polling was recorded in the region – he says: “Nation building cannot happen without the support and participation of minorities.”
