At least six soldiers and a private security guard were killed by bombs Saturday in Pakistan, police said.

A bomb exploded in a shopping centre of the capital Islamabad at around 2 pm (0900 GMT), killing a security guard and injuring a civilian, police official Muhammad Sharif said.

Another bomb hidden under a car exploded in the Karachi Company area of the city. The car was damaged but no other loss to life or property occurred.

“We are investigating both attacks and it is premature to say which group of militants planted the bombs,” said Sharif.

Elsewhere, six soldiers were killed and one injured in a roadside bombing in remote Shati area of Momand tribal region in the northwest, said a military official.

“Four soldiers died on the spot while two died in the hospital,” he said on anonymity.

Nobody took responsibility for the attacks, which came after the army reportedly killed more than 60 Taliban in North Waziristan aerial strikes this week.
