Pakistan vows to eliminate terrorism

Pakistan on Sunday reiterated its resolve to eliminate terrorism while joining the U.S. and people around the world in remembering those killed in the September 11 attacks as well as victims of terrorism elsewhere.

In a message released by the Foreign Office minutes after the clock struck midnight on ‘9/11' in this part of the world, Pakistan said: “As a country that has been severely affected by terrorism, we reaffirm our national resolve to strengthening international cooperation for the elimination of terrorism''.

The government also said it would be appropriate for the global community to renew its commitment to uphold the noble ideals of tolerance, humanity, brotherhood and friendship among all people and its determination to work for creating a better world.

Coverage

Meanwhile, exhaustive coverage was given by the Pakistani media to commemorative events world over to mark the ‘9/11' attacks. Regular programming was set aside by many a television channel to accommodate special programmes on the attacks and its impact on Pakistan in particular and the Muslim world in general.
