Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) has detained 30 Indian fishermen off Gujarat’s coast, the second such incident within a week.

The detained fishermen and their boats have been taken to Karachi.

Sources said all the fishermen are from Porbandar in Gujarat. They were apprehended along the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL).

“We have learnt that five boats have been seized with 30 fishermen on board,” said Manish Lodhari, secretary of the National Fishworkers’ Forum.

Since the beginning of this year, an increasingly aggressive PMSA has detained around 400 fishermen and seized 70 fishing trawlers, all from Gujarat, in the Arabian Sea.

All the abducted fishermen are lodged in Karachi jail while their boats are anchored at a fishing harbour in Karachi.
