Sri Lankan Parliament on Tuesday extended the Emergency Regulations by another month even as Prime Minister D.M. Jayaratne warned of a possibility of the LTTE re-grouping in the northern and eastern provinces. Last month the emergency laws were scaled down by the government withdrawing some of the powers of the military and the police.
Speaking on the motion seeking extension of the emergency laws, Mr. Jayaratne said overseas cadre of the LTTE were trying to contact former rebel members who had been released in the north.
