Moderate quake in Shanghai

An earthquake measuring 5.0 on the Richter scale hit the south Yellow Sea off Shanghai coast on Wednesady morning.

According to the China Earthquake Networks Centre, the quake hit at 9:19 a.m. (Beijing Time).

The epicentre was monitored at 33.3 degrees north latitude and 123.9 degrees east longitude with a depth of 10 km, the centre said.

Some residents in Pudong and other areas of Shanghai Municipality said they experienced the quake but there were no reports of damage so far.
