A 35-year-old woman allegedly killed her two sons and committed suicide in their house at Padirikuppam here on Monday night. Police gave the names of the deceased as Sivasankari, 40, wife of Madivanan, a pharmacist and their two children Pavesh Kanna, 13 and Rathesh Kanna, 9.

Police said the couple were married for 14 years. When Madivanan returned home around 11 a.m. he found the door locked and there was no response.

He informed his neighbours who broke open the door and found Sivasankari hanging in the living room while the children were found dead on a cot in the bedroom.

Police suspect that Sivasankari had smothered her two children before committing suicide. The bodies were retrieved and sent for post-mortem to the Cuddalore Government General Hospital. A case has been registered and further investigations are on.

Assistance for overcoming suicidal thoughts is available on the State’s health helpline 104 and Sneha’s suicide prevention helpline 044-24640050.
