Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) V. Vaithilingam has asked local leadership of Bharatiya Janata Party to use the opportunity of Home Minister Amit Shah’s visit to Puducherry on April 24 to remind the Union Government of the poll promises the BJP leadership made to the voters of the Union Territory.

The BJP leaders should submit a memorandum to Mr. Shah when he visits Puducherry to press for implementation of promises made to the people during Assembly polls. The people of Union Territory expected the Home Minister to announce setting up of Public Service Commission and enhancement of financial assistance to 70%, he said in a statement.

Flaying Chief Minister N. Rangasamy for not calling on the Prime Minister to press for the Union Territory’s demands, the MP said the territory comes under the direct control of the Centre and it was the responsibility of the Chief Minister to take up the issues with the Union Government.

“The Chief Minister has not visited New Delhi and met the Prime Minister. The Centre has also failed to fulfil any of the promises made to the voters in the last one year. The BJP leaders should submit a memorandum to the Home Minister requesting him to fulfil the poll promises,” he said.
